Dr Shockley received her BA in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 1983. She graduated with summa cum laude honors and is a member of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Society. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree in 1987 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Shockley received an Air Force Health Professions Scholarship for medical school, and after residency, she served 21 years in the US Air Force. Her service included active duty years and Reserve duty in the Arizona Air National Guard. She served five years in Germany and completed deployment tours to Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
Dr. Shockley's chief interests in ophthalmology include routine eye care and care of eye conditions such as diabetic eye disease, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and dry eye. She performs selective laser trabeculoplasty for glaucoma, in- office eyelid procedures, medical and cosmetic Botox, and Juvederm filler.
Dr. Shockley is Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the Virgnia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
